Wilderness First Aid Course

What is WFA?

Our Wilderness First Aid (WFA) Course is a 16-hour course designed for outdoor enthusiasts. Basic first aid skills are covered to keep you and your friends and family safe in outdoor environments. We emphasize scenario based learning for a hands on learning experience. The curriculum is developed through AdventureMed and is licensed through University of Utah.

Course Description:

To provide a practical foundation in Wilderness Medicine for outdoor enthusiasts

To teach patient assessment and treatment guidelines

Patient Assessment

Trauma

Medical Problems

Animal & Insect Bites

Musculoskeletal Injuries

Wound Management

Water Treatment

Extremes of temperature (Heat illness and Cold illness)

First Kits

Lightning

Course Fee: $250

Registration includes lodging for Friday and Saturday nights and meals including lunch and dinner Friday, breakfast, lunch and dinner Saturday and breakfast and lunch Sunday. Alcohol is available for purchase.

Lodging:

Lodging on-site promotes an immersive learning experience with opportunities to interact with faculty and other students throughout the weekend. Lodging options include bunkhouse lodging in the main lodge or tent camping with nearby bathroom facilities. Fees for lodging are included in the course fees.

Please indicate if you'd prefer lodging in the bunkhouse or camping.

"Built as an attachment to the original 1800's farmhouse on site, our grand Main Lodge is the centerpiece of Base Camp, providing a rustic atmosphere with all the modern comforts of home. Coupled with a large community-style bathhouse, the Main Lodge provides eight showers, four toilets and four sinks for each gender, with all linens provided for guests. For adult groups, our cedar sauna is also available upon request."

Things To Do:

The Wilderness Adventure at Eagles Landing offers numerous outdoor activities on-site on it's 500 acre property and in nearby national forest. These include paddling, tubing, hiking, mountain biking, challenge courses, frisbee golf, sauna, horseshoes and volleyball. The Appalachian trail is less than 30 minutes from the camp. World class mountain biking is available nearby at Carvin's Cove. If your significant other or family would like to attend this may be possible.
